Mentoring
is...
- ...a supportive relationship between an adult and a child to enhance
the child's educational, social and personal growth
- ...an effective way to pass along life skills needed to succeed in
school, at work, and in society
- ...a time honored way to build character, confidence and self esteem
- ...a strategy for repairing the fraying fabric of society by strengthening
the bonds between youth and adults
- ...a chance to pass on the gifts we ourselves have received in the
form of encouragement, knowledge, experience and inspiration
- ...an opportunity to broaden a child's vision of the future and all
the choices that are available

Ready to get started? |

Why consider mentoring?
- Was there a mentor who made a difference in your life? Ready to pass
that gift on?
- Have you noticed that by the time we get really good at parenting,
our children are grown? Want to put those hard earned skills to use?
- Did you have to overcome some difficult challenges as a child?
- Do you worry about children who might fall behind and have difficulty
catching up with their peers?
- Would you like to help a child who is struggling in school to experience
more successes and begin to believe in himself or herself?

"But where was I to
start? The world is so vast, I shall start with the country I know
best, my own. But my country is so very large. I had better start
with my town. But my town, too, is large. I had best start with my
street. No: my home. No: my family. Never mind, I shall start with
myself."
Elie Wiesel |
