Who knew that ONS had so much talent? We did, of course! And it was all on display at the 2010 ONS Talent Show. The Kindergarten Cubs kicked things off dancing to the entertaining “Tooty Ta.”

Next, first graders Secorrah, Makiyah, and Riley dazzled the the audience with their jumproping skills followed by jedi-inspired lightsaber dueling of Hayden, Norman, Gus, and Carson. Meadow and Jonaca filled the gymnasium with sounds of the season as they sang a duet of “Jingle Bells.” Gage was stoic with his rendition of “Rock-and-Roll Queen” while Kyler and Jameson spiralled perfect football passes to each other across the stage. The floor shook as Mrs. Burns and Miss Cook insighted a surprise hoedown with kindergarten and first grade students swinging their partners round and round.

Second graders Gracie and Madison pirouetted to “The Nutcracker” and with no break Madison was back on stage with Kylee. Confidently, the two cruised though an impressive hula-hooping act. Gracie was back again, this time with Keely Jocko, Teresa, and Carlee. The quartet demonstated their mastery of the jumprope. Kenji defied gravity with her gymnastics while Trevor caused jaws to drop as he flipped, walked on his hands, and did the worm. Amazing! Kaden and Mason brandished their lacrosse sticks and cruised through their repertoire of trick passes, followed by Naomi, Erika, and Tresah jumping a rope that passed behind their heads!

Frieda Jacques performed a lively piece on her clarinet before Karis freestyled his way through a hip-hop inspired dance and Elan magically (and painfully) broke his nose and set it back into place. The sparkling trio of Asha, Carah, and Diana synchronized perfectly during their crowd-pleasing dance.

After a near disaster, an angelic Allias floated across the stage introducing a dance act starring Rhiannon, Logan, and Natasha that entranced the audience. Will  brought the show to a close with a somber cover of the Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes,” drawing some of the loudest applause of the show.

Throughout the show, a side table diplayed creative works including clay sculptures by Carlee, a drawing by Harrison, vibrant paintings from Taylor, and an elaborate carnival themed K’Nex landscape built by Haeñhyanoñhna’.

Overall, the show was a huge success in large part due to the tireless work of school staff and Community of Caring members, not to mention the spirited hosts from the ONS sixth grade class: Logan, Anthony, Dani Rae, and Rhiannon. We hope everyone is planning their acts for next year!
