Recess Expands to 4th Grade

Onondaga Nation –   Recess is new this year for the 4th graders. Last year, recess was only a K-3 activity.  

The principal was the one who decided upon the change. She stated, “The past couple of years the students have asked me for recess. I looked at the schedule and I was able to make it happen.”

Fourth graders this year think the change is great. Mason of the fourth grade said, “It’s fun!”

However, this years fifth graders agreed that this is unfair because they never had recess in the fourth grade. They collectively stated, “We think the whole school should have recess.”

           
“And have it at different times of the day” added Jaden.

           
Carah offered, “We would be more focused.”

            
“And better students.” summed up Micah.

           
Principal Ellsworth spoke on the recess issue. “As of right now there is no plan to extend recess up to Eighth Grade.”

             
“But we can hope.” added Cobi.
