Successful 2011 Modified Lacrosse Season
June 7, 2011

The LaFayette boys modified lacrosse capped off an undefeated season with a 22-9 victory over visiting Jordan Elbridge.

The highlight of the season was a season sweep of arch-rival Tully. The first game of the season saw the Lancers defeat the Black Knights 10-6 and at the end of the season 11-8 with great midfield play from Leland Powless and a great attack rotation of Nate Sullivan, Mitchell Laffin, Trenton Steeprock, and Percy Booth. The defense was also strong with Colyn Lyons and Connor Thornton holding attack back with their aggressive defense.

While most games saw the Lancers winning by 10 or more goals, Cazenovia was a close test in a 10-9 win. The game saw the Lancers take an early lead while the home town Lakers kept it close. At the end of the game there was a controversy. The referees were confused about the score.

Attackman Nate Sullivan said of the game, "That game was pretty junk. The refs didn’t know what the score was. I’m just glad I was able to help my team by scoring the winning goal.”

The future looks bright for these young men as they prepare for next year.

Nate sums up the lacrosse season optimistically, “We had a great season. I can’t wait to beat Tully again next year!”
