LaFayette voters approve $18.9 million budget, elect board members

On May 15, LaFayette Central School District voters approved the district’s $18.9 million 2018-19 budget proposal, elected three board of education members and approved purchasing three new vehicles. Voters approved:

• An $18,964,918 budget for the 2018-19 school year that increases spending 1.23 percent and carries a 2.49 percent tax levy increase: 170 yes, 23 no;
• Purchasing two new student transportation vehicles and one maintenance vehicle at a total cost not to exceed $275,000: 160 yes, 32 no;

Voters also elected three candidates for the three open board of education seats:

• Carole Dwyer: 135 votes;
• Ronald Shawn Reyburn: 166 votes;
• Mark Whitney: 157 votes; and

The top two candidates will serve three-year terms, beginning July 1. Carole Dwyer will serve a two-year term, beginning July 1.
