COVID 19 Update Monday March 16, 2020
Good Morning-
This is Jeremy Belfield, Superintendent of Schools for LaFayette Central School District.
Today is Monday March 16, 2020. This morning at 10:00 AM, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced that all schools in Onondaga County will be closed effective 4:00 PM today through at least April 13, 2020.
Our schools will be dismissing today during our scheduled early dismissal on Mondays (ie 1:45 Grimshaw/ONS and 2:00 Jr/Sr High School and Big Picture).
During the time that school is closed, students should not report to school. There will be no extra curricular or athletic programs during the school closure.
Continued Learning Opportunities
Students in grades 2-12 will be bringing their district issued Chromebook and charger home to utilize during this extended closure. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade who do not have a device to use, please contact your school building main office to obtain one.
Students will be responsible for bringing this device back to school in the same condition that it was sent home on March 16th. If your child does not have internet connectivity, you can contact your child’s teachers or the main office to request a paper copy of instructional materials.
Students will be responsible for logging in to their Google Classroom to participate in virtual learning starting March 17th. Your child’s teacher(s) will communicate with you directly regarding any specific plans for continued learning opportunities.
