Positive Case - LaFayette High School 11/20/2020

November 20, 2020

Good Afternoon,

The district was notified earlier today that a staff member at LaFayette Jr/Sr High School tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was home sick on Monday November 16th with mild symptoms, scheduled a COVID test and stayed home from school until the results were received today. The staff member was last in the building briefly on Thursday November 12th when the school was on remote instruction. The last time that the staff member had any extended contact with students or other staff members was on Tuesday November  10th.

The district has notified the Onondaga County Health Department. Based on the timing of when symptoms occurred and the date that the staff member was last in contact with students and staff, no students or staff members will be considered “close contacts” for purposes of contact tracing.  The district will also report this positive result in the New York State Department of Health COVID Dashboard.

At this point, LaFayette Jr/Sr High School, LaFayette Big Picture School, and Grimshaw Elementary will continue to provide in person instruction. Students at the Onondaga Nation School will continue to learn via digital instruction through at least January 29th.

As a reminder, Wednesday November 25th, Thursday November 26th, and Friday November 27th all schools will be closed. Please stay safe during the time off.

Have a safe weekend and we look forward to seeing our students on Monday.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Belfield
