Update on Lead in Water Testing 2/8/21
February 8, 2021
Dear Families:
I am writing as a follow-up to our previous correspondence dated December 14, 2021 - click here. As required by the NYS Health Department, and in conjunction with the Onondaga County Health Department and OCM BOCES Health & Safety Office, the district is required to conduct lead water sampling from outlets within the schools every five years. In this study, water samples found to have the presence of lead with 15 parts per billion are identified. Previously, we reported that four fixtures had readings above 15 ppb after initial testing, which included three fixtures at Grimshaw school and one at LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School. The following items were identified based on the November 7th lab test results have been remediated:
? Room 211 Classroom Grimshaw Elementary - The fixture has been replaced, and follow-up testing indicates that the new fixture is acceptable for drinking purposes.
? Room 216 Classroom Grimshaw Elementary - The fixture has been replaced, and follow-up testing indicates that the new fixture is acceptable for drinking purposes.
? WF 7 Water Fountain Grimshaw Elementary - The fixture has been replaced, and follow-up testing indicates that the new fixture is acceptable for drinking purposes.
? Room 212 Classroom LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School - The fixture has been replaced, and follow-up testing indicates that the new fixture is acceptable for drinking purposes.
These results have been reported to the NYS Department of Health as well as the Onondaga County Health Department. A copy of the lab results for these new fixtures is available by clicking here.
