COVID Testing - Monday March 8, 2021

March 3, 2021

Dear LaFayette CSD Families, LaFayette CSD and OCM BOCES Students and Staff Members:

Our partners at Onondaga County have graciously agreed to host an on-site testing clinic for asymptomatic  students and staff at the following locations on MondayMarch 8, 2021:

  • Monday 3/8/2021 - LaFayette Jr/Sr High and Big Picture School  8:30-9:30 AM

  • Monday 3/8/2021- Grimshaw Elementary- 10:00-11:00 AM

Our amazing school nurses will be administering the COVID test to our students! Thank you to Ms. Gates, Ms. DuMond and Ms. Brown for their assistance!

Student athletes and coaches will be tested separately.  You are welcome to register for additional testing on Monday 3/8, but we will still test athletes and coaches separately as part of the required weekly surveillance testing. The district recently received clarification from Onondaga County and our district medical director that COVID testing is required for student athletes and coaches participating in high risk sports.

Students and staff will need to pre-register for an appointment for testing. For students, who are being tested, NYS also requires parents/guardians to complete a consent form (two steps below; staff members only need to register).

  1. Parents/caregivers of students participating in testing and staff members will need to pre-register for testing: https://covid19.ongov.net/appointments/school-registration-form/ Please register prior to 8:30 AM on Sunday March 7, 2021.

  2. Parents please also complete this consent for testing form: https://forms.gle/i66cADeftvFqUqR68

The test will be performed using a nasal swab that will be inserted just inside of the nasal cavity. Testing participants will receive results within the same day. In the event that a student or staff member tests positive for COVID, that individual would have to leave school and isolate at home.

Individuals who experience symptoms (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea), should stay home from school and should contact their medical professional to determine next steps.

This testing clinic is available, at no cost, for students, and LaFayette CSD/OCM BOCES staff members who do not have any symptoms of COVID.

Thank you to our students, families, and staff members for your continued efforts to stay healthy and safe. Thank you to our partners at Onondaga County for their continued support during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Belfield
