Change in Outdoor Face Mask Policy from NYSDOH

June 10, 2021

Dear Families and Staff Members:

Recently, Governor Cuomo announced that school districts no longer need to require that face coverings be worn for outdoor activities. Here is a link to the updated NYSDOH guidance - click here

As we experience warmer temperatures and given the reduced number of COVID cases in the surrounding community, LaFayette CSD will no longer require face coverings for outdoor activities. Students and staff can still wear face coverings for outdoor activities, if they choose to do so. If parents would like their child to continue to wear a face covering during outdoor activities, please notify your child’s school principal as soon as possible.

Please note that outdoor activities no longer requiring face coverings for students, staff or guests will include outdoor athletic contests, outdoor physical education activities, end of year celebrations (moving up ceremonies, graduation, Olympics), etc. We look forward to seeing your unmasked or masked faces at these events.

Please continue to follow public health guidance by staying home when you are sick or if in close contact with someone recently diagnosed with COVID.

Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to keep everyone safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

Jeremy Belfield

Superintendent of Schools
