COVID Vaccine Clinic Ages 5-11

COVID Vaccine Clinic Ages 5-11 and Updates for Families November 4, 2021

Dear Families and Staff Members -

COVID Vaccine Clinic Ages 5-11 - Fri 11/19 GS Cafeteria 8:15-11:15 AM

We are pleased to partner with Wegmans Pharmacy to offer a COVID Vaccine Clinic on Friday November 19th from 8:15 AM - 11:15 AM at Grimshaw Elementary in the cafeteria for students ages 5-11. Yesterday, the CDC announced that the Pfizer vaccine was given emergency use authorization for this age group. Parents will need to present when their child is being vaccinated. We are still working on the logistics and waiting for the registration link to be finalized by Wegmans. I will also be reaching out to our district mental health team and area hospitals to have a support team available to help assist students and families during the vaccine clinic.

Wegmans also agreed to stay on site at Grimshaw Elementary from 11:15-12:15 to offer COVID booster shots for staff members.

We are also working with the Onondaga Nation Health Clinic to offer a COVID vaccine clinic for students ages 5-11. Once we finalize the date/time for this clinic, I will be sure to let families know. The clinic has already extended an offer to provide booster shots to staff members at ONS.

Thank you to our partners at Wegmans, the Onondaga Nation Health Clinic, the Onondaga Nation, Upstate Medical University, and Onondaga County Health Department for their assistance.

More information will be coming soon.

Question and Answer Session with Dr. Gupta

Dr. Gupta attended our board of education meeting in October, via phone, to answer questions from board members and parents on the COVID vaccine and a variety of other topics related to COVID mitigation strategies. Here is a link to the recording of the board meeting - click here. The question and answer session starts around 43:30. Due to time constraints, Dr. Gupta was not able to answer all of the questions submitted. I sent questions submitted by parents to medical professionals at Upstate Medical University. I will open up a question and answer document for families once we receive written responses.

Thank you for your continued support. Please remember to stay home if you are sick or experiencing symptoms and reach out to your doctor. I hope that everyone in your home stays safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Belfield
