Devastating News - No After School Activities/Grief Counseling Available 3:15-6:30 PM HS Cafeteria

February 26, 2024

Dear Families and Staff Members:

It is with profound sadness that I share with you that Spencer Dix, a member of the class of 2025, died unexpectedly this morning.

Spencer was a dedicated student, a talented student athlete, and an all around great young man. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially for our students. I want you to know that  our school counselors, school psychologists, and social workers are here to help in any way we can.

In an effort to support our students, the high school counseling office is available today to assist. We will also be available this afternoon and evening in the high school cafeteria from 3:15-6:30 PM for students who wish to gather to talk with counselors. For counseling support this evening, please enter through the main entrance, cafeteria entrance, or sports entrance.

We are also working with Onondaga County to have grief counseling available as well. Additionally, counselors will be available to provide ongoing support throughout the weeks ahead. Below are some resources that may be useful to you in helping your child at home.

We are saddened by this loss and we are dedicated to supporting you and your children.

Sports practices, musical practice, club meetings, and other after school activities are canceled for this afternoon to allow students and staff to attend grief counseling starting at 3:15-6:30 PM in the high school cafeteria.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Belfield
