LaFayette Student Artwork Earns National Recognition:
Recently, a LaFayette Junior/Senior High School student learned that her artwork had earned the National Silver Medal from the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! Eighth grade student Evelyn Borchert received this incredible distinction for her mixed media piece "Meadow."
Per the organization's award letter:
"Nearly 110,000 teens entered more than 310,000 original works of art and writing to the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Your work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision."
This is an incredible honor, and the district is incredibly proud of Evelyn's accomplishment. Congratulations! ...

LaFayette Players present: Gone With the Breeze:
The LaFayette Players are proud to present the spring production: "Gone With the Breeze," to be held at the junior/senior high school auditorium on March 14-15.
The new novel "Gone With The Breeze" is a huge hit, and every girl in the country wants to play the lead of Jezebel O'Toole in the movie that Lone Pine Films is putting out. The studio already knows that they want Peggy Tempest to star in it since she's a guaranteed hit, but she is just so temperamental to work with! To try to keep her in line, the studio tells the press that they are hiring an "unknown" actress instead. What could possibly go wrong with this scheme?

LaFayette Student Artwork Chosen For Everson Display:
The LaFayette Central School District's Art Department would like to congratulate Maddox Lazore ("Hue," Photography category) and Madison Shute ("A Fondness for Flowers," Mixed Media category), both of whom had pieces chosen for display at the Everson Museum of Art in a special Scholastic Art display!
A total of 30 Scholastic Art pieces were chosen from this year's Silver Key and Honorable Mention award winners, making it a great honor for Madison and Maddox’s artwork to be selected. The Everson Exhibit will run throughout the month of March.

2025 Scholastic Art Awards Winners Announced:
The LaFayette Central School District's Art Department is thrilled to announce its 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards recipients!
Chosen from among more than 4,500 individual entries submitted in Central New York, students at the Lafayette Junior/Senior High School and Onondaga Nation School received a total of 33 awards in this year's contest! Their artworks will be displayed at Onondaga Community College (OCC) from Jan. 14 - Feb. 28. An awards Ceremony will be held on Jan. 21 at the OCC SRC Arena. Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Capella and Mrs. Mercurio wish to congratulate all participants!

All Buildings Closed Saturday 1/4/25; Optimist Basketball Tournament Cancelled:

Dear Families, Students, and Staff Members -
All school buildings will be closed on Saturday 1/4/25. The Optimist Basketball tournament scheduled for Saturday 1/4/25 has been cancelled based on the weather forecast. There will be no practices or events for programs hosted at LaFayette Central School District.
For student athletes on the Southern Hills Wrestling team hosted at Fabius-Pompey, the coach will communicate directly with student athletes if there are any changes for the wrestling tournament in Canastota on Saturday.
Have a safe weekend! I hope that everyone enjoys the last weekend of the holiday break and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

Syracuse STEAM School Informational Session LaFayette HS Jan 6 2024:

New York State requires school districts to perform an early release drill at least once per school year. LaFayette Central School district will perform an early release drill on Friday December 20, 2024.
Here are the dismissal times for students on Friday December 20, 2024:
Grimshaw Elementary: 1:45 Dismissal
Jr/Sr High and Big Picture Dismissal: 2:00 Dismissal
Onondaga Nation School:1:45 Dismissal
