Updates for the Community June 9, 2020 Updates for the Community June 9, 2020: June 9, 2020   Dear LaFayette Central School District:   We are heading into the home stretch and I am sure our students are counting down the days until summer vacation. I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with the following important updates:   Deadline for School District Budget Ballots Extended Governor Cuomo has signed an executive order extending the deadline for the annual school district budget vote and board of election ballots. Ballots can be dropped off at the district office until 5:00 PM on June 9th. After June 9th, ballots can be returned via mail; however, the ballot must be received by Tuesday June 16th.   The district will begin counting ballots after 5:00 PM on Tuesday ...
Grimshaw to Take Part in Summer Reading Challenge Grimshaw to Take Part in Summer Reading Challenge: This summer, Grimshaw Elementary will be participating in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge!
Beyond encouraging students to keep their reading skills sharp over the summer months, the challenge comes with additional incentives as well. Reaching certain milestones (measured in "minutes read" by students) can yield ice cream prizes and even the chance to pie a teacher in the face!

Proposed Budget 2020-2021 Newsletter Proposed Budget 2020-2021 Newsletter: Dear LaFayette School District Community: The 2020-2021 School District Budget Newsletter will be arriving in LaFayette homes soon. You can read the budget newsletter by clicking here . The budget vote and board election will be taking place via absentee ballot. Each household with eligible voters will receive an absentee ballot via mail. Board of Education Election Update May 7 2020 Board of Education Election Update May 7 2020: Budget Vote and Board of Education Election May 21, 2024   Dear LaFayette Central School District Community:   On May 21th, LaFayette Central School District voters will choose two district residents to serve on the Board of Education. Candidates may be nominated only by petition and must collect at least 25 signatures from qualified school district voters to be placed on the ballot. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration 2025-2026 Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration 2025-2026: Calling All Pre-K and K Families!   Dear Families:   We are welcoming any new pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registrations for students for the 2025-2026 school year.   Registration documents are posted on our school district website under “ Central Registration ”.    Any current pre-kindergarten students enrolled with the school district do not need to register for kindergarten.    We look forward to welcoming our new pre-kindergarten (class of 2039) and kindergarten (class of 2038) students!

Honoring the Class of 2020 Honoring the Class of 2020: April 15, 2020   Dear LaFayette School Community:   The district was approached by a group of thoughtful community members who would like to honor the class of 2020 in a special way with yard signs for students in our senior class. Please see the message below from the LaFayette Sports Boosters:   Since the school year is one for the history books and we are unsure of the unknown future, we wanted to provide a little something to honor the Class of 2020. We will be selling lawn signs to show our love and support.   Each sign is 18X24 and comes with a wire stake. They are double sided and a sample sign can be found via this link . Update on School Closure - March 31, 2020 Update on School Closure - March 31, 2020: March 31, 2020 Dear Parents & Guardians, We received clarification following Governor Cuomo’s announcement on Friday extending our school closure through April 15, 2020.   Through inquiry with the Governor’s Office and the New York State Education Department, the Deputy Secretary for Education to Governor Cuomo, has advised that school districts are expected to provide continuity of learning (i.e., continued instruction) and distribution of meals during the closure through April 15, 2020, including during what was previously designated as our Board of Education approved Spring Break (April 6, 2020 to April 10, 2020) as outlined in the 2019-2020 school calendar.
