Dear Families:
New York State requires school districts to perform an early release drill at least once per school year. LaFayette Central School district will perform an early release drill on Friday February 12, 2021.
Here are the dismissal times for students on February 12, 2021:
Grimshaw Elementary: 1:45 Dismissal
Jr/Sr High and Big Picture Dismissal: 2:00 Dismissal
Onondaga Nation School:1:45 Dismissal
Students will board buses at the times mentioned above. If you normally pick your child up from school, please be sure to pick your child up at the times listed above. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the main office at your child's school.

Due to the challenging road conditions, all schools in the LaFayette Central School District will be closed on Wednesday February 3, 2021.
There will be no online classes and no in person learning.

Update on Athletics January 31, 2021:
Dear Families:
Our Board of Education will hold a special meeting tomorrow afternoon, Monday February 1, 2021 at 1:30 PM to consider a resolution authorizing participation in athletics including high risk sports of basketball, wrestling, ice hockey, volleyball, football and lacrosse. NYS has previously authorized softball and baseball to be played in accordance with safety regulations. The school board meeting will take place via Google Meets ( https://meet.google.com/uby-ptkd-nrk ) and the link for the meeting will be made available on the Board Agenda webpage tomorrow.

LaFayette Jr/Sr High School will switch to remote instruction effective tomorrow, Thursday January 14th through Friday January 22nd due to a number of staff and students who have been placed in mandatory quarantine. We look forward to seeing our LaFayette Jr/Sr High School students and staff back in the building on Monday January 25, 2021.

Onondaga Nation School- Digital Instruction Will Continue for the Remainder of the School Year:

Dear LaFayette Central School District Community:
District representatives recently corresponded with the Onondaga Nation Council of Chiefs, Clanmothers, and Faithkeepers. The Council has decided that the Onondaga Nation School will continue to remain closed for in person instruction and that all students and staff will participate in digital instruction for the duration of the school year.
The Onondaga Nation School calendar will also be adjusted so that Monday January 18th will be a day off from school to observe the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Thank you to all of our students and staff that participated in COVID testing today. 82 individuals were tested at the High School and 104 individuals were tested at Grimshaw Elementary.
There were no positive cases from this testing clinic. Great job Lancers!
Thank you to our partners at Onondaga County for all of their efforts with today’s testing clinic. We are working with the county to schedule another round of testing in the month of January. Once we confirm the date, I will be sure to pass this information along.

The district was notified later this afternoon that a student at the LaFayette Jr/Sr High School and one digital learner at the Onondaga Nation School tested positive for COVID-19. The students have not recently been in close contact with students or staff in the school setting.
The district has notified the Onondaga County Health Department of these positive cases.
Grimshaw Elementary, LaFayette Jr/Sr High School, and LaFayette Big Picture School will return to offering in person instruction on Monday January 4, 2021. The Onondaga Nation School will continue to educate students via digital instruction through at least January 29th.
