Grimshaw Elementary, LaFayette Jr/Sr High School, and LaFayette Big Picture School hosted an asymptomatic testing clinic for students and staff members this morning. Thank you to our awesome school nurses Ms. Brown, Ms. Dumond, and Ms. Gates for conducting the testing and thank you to our partners at Onondaga County for assisting with coordinating the testing clinic. Here are the results:
Grimshaw: 22 tested, 0 positive
LaFayette Jr/Sr High School and Big Picture School: 12 tested, 0 positive

COVID Vaccine Clinic April 21, 2021:

Dear Families and Staff Members:
The LaFayette Central School District is partnering with Onondaga County to offer an on-site vaccination clinic on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at LaFayette CSD Junior & Senior High School. This clinic will also include high school students from the Tully, Fabius-Pompey, and Onondaga Central School Districts. Students from other districts participating in the clinic will be bussed to LaFayette CSD by their home district. Appointments are available for eligible students (ages 16 and up) for the Pfizer vaccine.
Vaccinations are also open for staff members and eligible family members in our district who would like to reserve an appointment.

Here are a few important updates:
Update on Positive Cases
The district was recently informed of two positive COVID cases in our school:
Two students at the Jr/Sr High recently tested positive for COVID-19. All close contacts and individuals recommended for quarantine have been contacted by the district.
We wish these individuals a quick recovery. The district has been in communication with the Onondaga County Health Department regarding these cases. Please continue to monitor your children for symptoms of COVID and be sure to contact your health care provider as soon as symptoms occur.

On May 18th, LaFayette Central School District voters will choose three district residents to serve on the Board of Education.
Candidates may be nominated only by petition and must collect at least 25 signatures from qualified school district voters to be placed on the ballot. Petitions, which are available now, must be filed by 4 p.m. April 19th with the District Clerk, LaFayette Central School District Office, 5955 US Route 20, LaFayette, NY 13084. No After School or Evening Activities 2/22, COVID Test Results:
Due to inclement weather, there will be no after school or evening activities for Monday February 22, 2021.
Also, 96 students and staff were tested for COVID today at Grimshaw Elementary, LaFayette Jr/Sr High, and LaFayette Big Picture School. There were no positives. Great job Lancers!

Pandemic Plan Available for Public Comment:
The Board of Education of the LaFayette Central School District held a public hearing on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium - 3122 US RT 11, LaFayette, NY 13084. The purpose of the hearing was to receive public comments on the addition of a Pandemic Plan to the LaFayette Central School District Emergency Response Plan.

Change in Face Covering Policy 2/22/21:

Dear Staff Members and Families:
Effective Monday February 22, 2021, the LaFayette Central School District will require all students and staff to wear a face covering at all times. Mask breaks will be provided in accordance with state guidelines. The purpose for this change is to increase mitigation measures and minimize the number of students and staff placed into quarantine when positive cases occur.
Onondaga County published updated “Quarantine Guidelines for All Onondaga County Schools” on February 6, 2021. Update on Lead in Water Testing 2/8/21:

Dear Families:
I am writing as a follow-up to our previous correspondence dated December 14, 2021 - click here . As required by the NYS Health Department, and in conjunction with the Onondaga County Health Department and OCM BOCES Health & Safety Office, the district is required to conduct lead water sampling from outlets within the schools every five years. In this study, water samples found to have the presence of lead with 15 parts per billion are identified. Previously, we reported that four fixtures had readings above 15 ppb after initial testing, which included three fixtures at Grimshaw school and one at LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School.
